Poppy has asymptomatic MVD and confirmed cardiomegaly.
Once cardiomegaly is present, Poppy is highly likely to develop heart failure within 12 months if she is left untreated. Treatment with Vetmedin® delays the onset of heart failure and will extend her overall survival.4

Diuretics are not indicated in dogs with MVD until they develop signs of congestive heart failure, therefore this is not the best choice for Poppy.

Spironolactone is not indicated and has not been shown to delay the onset of congestive heart failure in dogs with asymptomatic MVD.6 Spironolactone is therefore not the best choice for Poppy.
